Joseph P. Edwards

Joe Edwards’ childhood was not unlike that of many young boys growing up in Orange County, New York. From an early age, he loved sports and played every chance he got. From baseball, to football to hockey to soccer …. He played them all and had lots of fun.
This love of sports was coupled with a love of mathematics, his favorite subject in school. In fact he was not sure what he wanted to do with his life when he grew up-teach math or teach sports! But he knew he wanted to teach. He was great at it! Children flocked to him and he had a very special way about him that really spoke to children.
As he attended Orange County Community College he discovered that he wanted not only to teach but to teach children with challenges. He loved children and wanted to help them. In fact at one point in his life he was quite a guardian angel, raising money to help a young boy who needed medical attention.
He transferred to West Chester University in PA and majored in Kinesiology as he decided to become a Health PE teacher.
However his dreams were not to be as his life was cut short by complications from epilepsy.
This year Joe would have been 30 years old. His family misses him terribly. To honor his wonderful life we will have a Bowl-a-thon at the Colonial Lanes, in Chester, NY on October 13th. Joe’s spirit lives on in those he loved; his mom, dad, and sister. Joe’s spirit continues to provide hope and inspiration to all of his family and friends.
